Swicorp Private Equity has completed its spin-out from Swicorp to become SPE Capital Partners (SPE Capital), an independent private equity firm focusing on the Middle East and Africa, excluding the GCC.

Since it was initiated in 2005, Swicorp Private Equity has invested nearly $1bn in over 20 transactions spanning the Middle East and Africa.

The establishment of SPE Capital represents the next chapter in the life of the business.

With existing teams in place, SPE Capital will continue to demonstrate the investment expertise, culture and level of service for which the team is known for as Swicorp Private Equity.

Subject to regulatory approvals, Swicorp will retain a 49% stake in SPE Capital and remain a major sponsor for the firm.

Nabil Triki, Managing Partner of SPE Capital, said: “We spent a long time building a business inside Swicorp and, from the start, we carved out a separate identity, focused on investing growth capital in exciting companies, driving their growth and transforming them into successful, independently managed, best-in-class players in their sectors.”

Swicorp was among the first firms in the MENA region to dedicate significant efforts and resources to developing a full-fledged private equity business.

SPE Capital is now a firm which offers investors a diversified range of investment opportunities in private equity, in Africa and parts of the Middle East, with plans for further development in the coming years.

“We will direct our entrepreneurial spirit, which remains at our heart, towards exploring new ways of fostering growth, while continuing to invest in a way that blends our discipline and conviction with our growth-focused philosophy,” said Triki.

“SPE Capital is the sum of its talented people. I believe we are bound together by the same values upon which the business was founded a decade ago. We value shared outcomes with the people, partners and companies with whom we work. We prize this as much as accountability and excellence. This strong culture gives us courage and confidence in our future as SPE Capital,” he added.
