AfricInvest Small Cap Fund (ASCF) has made a minority equity investment in Spoon Consulting, a Mauritius-based AI and digital transformation company, to support its expansion across Africa and Europe.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The investment will support Spoon Consulting’s deployment of AI technologies, expansion of its enterprise client base and potential acquisitions as the company seeks to grow across Africa and the broader Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

Spoon currently operates delivery hubs in Mauritius and Madagascar and has recently established a subsidiary in Kenya. The company plans to use these locations to expand its presence in African markets as demand for cloud infrastructure, AI and digital transformation services increases.

AfricInvest said the investment will focus on three areas: scaling Spoon’s AI capabilities, expanding into additional African markets and strengthening the company’s institutional governance.

The private equity firm will also provide strategic and operational support and access to its pan-African network as Spoon develops its regional client base.

The investment is expected to support the creation of skilled technology jobs across Spoon’s delivery hubs. The company is also developing digital solutions aimed at reducing unnecessary computing and energy use as clients increase their adoption of AI technologies.

Potential acquisitions will form another part of the growth strategy, with Spoon considering targeted transactions that could expand its capabilities and geographic footprint.

The investment was made through AfricInvest Small Cap Fund, which targets small and mid-sized businesses with growth potential across Africa.
