O’Melveny & Myers has announced that Eve Ellis will return to the firm’s London office as a partner in the Investment Funds Practice Group as of October 8, 2015.
Ellis will join O’Melveny from Mishcon de Reya in London, where she was a partner and served as co-head of the Funds and Financial Services Group.
“O’Melveny’s leading funds group, international platform, and impressive roster of European and international fund clients were big draws for me,” Ellis said.
“I look forward to working once again with O’Melveny’s London team and investment funds lawyers firmwide to help clients navigate the ins and outs of an increasingly complex regulatory maze.”
Ellis, who has worked for O’Melveny between 2007 and 2010, has experience with international investment funds — with particular emphasis on private equity — as well as with real estate, hedge, and emerging markets funds.
She has special expertise advising clients on the EU’s Alternative Investment Funds Management Directive (AIFMD); the need for regulatory approval; compliance with regulators’ rules; anti-money laundering issues; and marketing of financial products.
In addition, she has acted for a number of institutional investors in secondary transactions, counseling them in relation to private equity funds, including sovereign wealth funds, funds of funds, and pension funds.
Bradley J. Butwin, O’Melveny Chair, said: “The addition of a lawyer with Eve’s talent and rare skill-set advances O’Melveny’s ability to best serve the needs of our clients in Europe and worldwide.”
“Eve’s unique regulatory expertise, combined with her fund formation and secondaries experience, will greatly enhance our funds and private equity practice in London and promote the strategic growth of our European practice,” he said.
