BNY Mellon has appointed Jacqueline Joyston-Bechal to head up its Advisory Compliance team in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) for Investment Services.

Joyston-Bechal is based in London and reports to Alain Lesjongard, head of International Compliance at BNY Mellon.

In her new position, Joyston-Bechal will take a leading role in advising and supporting the senior management teams in both EMEA and in Global Risk and Compliance, and will work closely with regulators throughout EMEA.

She joins BNY Mellon from the Bank of England where she was head of Legal for the Markets, Banking and Notes Directorates.

Before joining the Bank of England, Joyston-Bechal spent ten years with Clifford Chance, where she was a senior lawyer in the finance department.

She holds an MA from Oxford University in Spanish and Philosophy.

“Jacqueline has a thorough understanding of regulatory and public policy issues, including prudential risk and reputational risk management,” said Lesjongard.

“We are expanding our compliance team and continue to deepen our expertise in areas such as prudential matters, conduct risk and financial crime to meet the evolving regulatory landscape across Europe, the Middle East and Africa,” he added.
