Global Environment Fund (GEF) has appointed Koome Imathiu as Managing Director of its Africa investment team.
Global Environment Fund (GEF) has appointed Koome Imathiu as Managing Director of its Africa investment team.
He joins Sulanji Siwale, a member of GEF’s Africa team since 2012.
Together, they will oversee the firm’s investments in clean/renewable energy, resource efficiency and logistics in sub-Saharan Africa.
Prior to GEF, Imathiu was a Principal with Helios Investment Partners, where he focused on sub-Saharan African investments in energy, transportation, agri-processing and technology.
Imathiu also worked for Goldman Sachs undertaking both principal investments and investment banking advisory transactions related to power generation, food processing and telecommunications in Africa.
Earlier in his career, he held positions in the US with Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Co. and Amazon.com.
Imathiu holds a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science & Economics from Vassar College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
