The Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF), a non-profit institution for research and policy analysis, has appointed Dr. Tausi Mbaga Kida as the new Executive Director of the Foundation.

She will be the fourth Executive Director since ESRF was established in 1994 under the leadership of Prof. Samuel Wangwe.

She takes over from Dr. Hoseana Bohela Lunogelo, who will continue to be a Senior Advisor and Principal Research Associate to ESRF.

Kida is a Development Economist by profession with over 15 years of experience in programme management, capacity development and socio-economic research.

Prior to her appointment to the post of Executive Director, Kida was the Director of Programmes at ESRF since February 2011.

Some of her recent engagements include taking leading role in consultation process in the development of Post MDGs Agenda in Tanzania.

Kida played a technical and coordination role in directing the process of producing Tanzania Human Development Report 2014 “Economic Transformation for Human Development” for which she was the Project Manager.

She is also a member of Regional Steering Committee for developing East Africa Vision 2050.

Her main challenges at ESRF will be to continue consolidating the Foundation’s mandate as the center of excellence in policy research relevant for guiding sustainable growth and development in Tanzania and the region.

She will be out for collaboration with stakeholders in the public and private sectors.

ESRF is actively engaged in social economic policy research, policy dialogue and programmes for capacity development of both government and non-state actors in Tanzania.
