The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADFD and His Excellency Hadidi Amer, Naama Province Section Chief at the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform in Algeria.
The MoU stipulates that the UAE government grant is managed by ADFD to fully refurbish, renovate and restore 10 hospitals in the Algerian province of Naama.
Moreover, the grant will ensure state-of-the-art medical equipment and upgrades to therapeutic systems for the hospitals.
Re-affirming ADFD’s commitment towards improvements in health care services His Excellency Al Suwaidi said: “At the Fund we aim to provide developments that in-turn greatly benefits the mass public. The health care sector in general is ever-so changing; new advancements and technologies are continuous.”
“ADFD’s mission for renewed global partnerships is monumental in bringing about socio-economic developments not only for the health sector but for all key sectors,” he added.
His Excellency Amer praised the UAE’s developmental strategy and commended the close relations of both friendly countries.
ADFD was established in 1971 to help emerging countries achieve sustainable development by offering concessionary loans to finance development projects in these countries, adding to other long-term investments and direct contributions.
Additionally, the Fund manages government grants offered by the UAE by overseeing and directly following the course of projects. The Fund has financed 488 projects in 83 countries.
ADFD’s activities in Algeria date back to 1993.
In 2006, the Fund founded a multi-speciality hospital in the Naama province.
