STANLIB announces single equity franchise

STANLIB, a Johannesburg based asset manager, has consolidated its equity products and mandates into a single Equity franchise, to enhance its specialist South African Equity franchise. Herman van Velze, who is currently Head of Investments and co-manages the Multi Asset Franchise, will contnue to be the Head of Investments and lead this Equity franchise from October 2016.

Van Velze has more than 23 years of portfolio management experience focused on balanced and South African equity portfolios.
He will be supported by Theo Botha, who has more than 27 years industry experience in various research and equity portfolio management roles.
Seelan Gobalsamy, STANLIB CEO, said: "Under their expertise and experience, we plan to grow and further strengthen the Equity franchise. The franchise will also draw on the output from STANLIB’s seasoned research team."
The Multi-Asset Franchise will continue to be led by Robin Eagar, who has been Co-Head of the franchise since 2010.
Eagar has more than 18 years of investment experience having started at STANLIB in 2005.
He leads an experienced team which has a proven track record, including senior portfolio manager, Warren Buhai who has 15 years of industry experience, and the portfolio managers Anwaar Wagner and Kobus Nell, who have 17 and 7 years’ experience, respectively.
