Northern Trust has enhanced its peer universe comparison capabilities with the addition of intelligence derived from eVestment universe data.

Ian Castledine, Global Head of Investment Risk & Analytical Services Product at Northern Trust, said: “Northern Trust has delivered proprietary peer universe data to clients for many years. eVestment is a great fit for Northern Trust, supplementing our existing suite of universe data as investment strategies become more specialized with a broader global footprint.”

“Our ability to leverage their database, while delivering results through our own reporting platform, provides our clients with a broader, more complete, view of their managers’ performance,” he said.

The integration of eVestment’s universes expands clients’ access to a global array of more than 500 manager peer universes across six asset classes and 74 countries, including African markets.

Through Northern Trust’s Investment Risk and Analytical Services (IRAS) peer universe comparison capabilities, clients can compare the performance of investment managers’ decile ranking against a broad universe of manager mandates ranging from public to private markets.

By providing access to proprietary and third-party universes, Northern Trust offers comparisons at the investment plan, program, and manager level.

eVestment manager universe data is integrated into Northern Trust’s web-based and published reporting applications, offering powerful data with a seamless client experience.

A key feature of the eVestment data is the ability to deliver results to investors across base currencies, providing access to markets outside the US.

Mark Scott, Vice President, eVestment, said: “Our global data set is among the most complete views of institutional investment and asset management activity in the world.”

“We’re always happy to work with others in the industry like Northern Trust to help people make smarter and more informed investment decisions as globalization and market developments make investing more complex,” he added.
