Pan-African law firm Bowmans has opened its new permanent office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The keynote speaker for the occasion was the Honourable Palamagamba John Kabudi, Tanzania’s Minister of Constitutional and Legal Affairs, who said government welcomes African law firms such as Bowmans for their commitment to the country: “Such firms foster best practices for the benefit of their investor clients and the growth of the legal profession in Tanzania.”

The official office opening comes eight months after Bowmans began operating in Dar es Salaam under its own brand name in temporary offices in Kinondoni.

“The past months have confirmed our analysis of the country’s importance as a hub for foreign investors, and the strength and growth potential of the Tanzanian economy,” said Robert Legh, Chairman and Senior Partner at Bowmans.

“The official opening is a milestone for the firm and our clients in the region, and an opportunity to celebrate another step in the fulfilment of our African growth strategy,” he said.

“We are honoured that the Tanzanian Minister of Constitutional and Legal Affairs joined us at the event, along with a significant number of our valued clients, government officials, business partners and colleagues from the Tanzanian and international legal community,” he added.

The new office, located at The Luminary in Masaki, boasts world-class facilities in line with all other Bowmans offices -  in Nairobi (Kenya); Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg (South Africa); and Kampala (Uganda).

The founding team at Bowmans Tanzania comprises three partners: Wilbert Kapinga, who leads the office, Audax Kameja and Chris Green.

Kapinga said: “Doing business under the Bowmans brand is a significant investment that demonstrates our confidence in the African continent. It also enables us to attract the best local legal skills. We are excited to be an integral part of Tanzania’s vibrant legal and business landscape.”
