Deutsche Börse will distribute the Concerto African Bond Indices as well as the corresponding bond prices and data, starting November 24.
Georg Gross, Head of Information, Market Data and Services at Deutsche Börse AG, said: “Africa presents an intriguing growth story for investors seeking emerging market exposure.”
“International investors require objective, transparent market data with which to evaluate their investments, particularly in more opaque and developing regions. The Concerto Bond Indices serve as a consistent and reliable barometer for the most promising bond markets in Africa,” he said.
These indices are the first independent index family to measure pan-African local currency sovereign bond performance.
The Indices were developed with an African development bank and launched in October 2013, measuring the performance of government bonds from 12 countries: Botswana, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tunisia, Uganda and Zambia.
The family spans over 300 pan-African, regional and country indices, plus relevant maturity sub-indices.
All indices are market capitalization weighted, rebalanced monthly, calculated in their respective local currency as well as in US Dollar, Euro and South African Rand and are available daily via the systems of Deutsche Börse.
Michael Abraham, Managing Partner at Concerto Financial Solutions, said: “The many positive developments happening in Africa are beginning to show fruit, meaning that attractive returns are available to investors along with diversification opportunities. Our indices provide investors with transparent and reliable information that goes beyond tabloid news.”
“These indices add a new dimension for investments and contribute to the development of local currency bond markets. We are very pleased that Deutsche Börse is joining us at the forefront of this development and is expanding its coverage to these new and exciting markets,” he said.
Deutsche Börse AG will disseminate the Concerto information products via the Deutsche Börse’s data feed CEF Core to vendors who provide data via terminals.
